We work in Lyndhurst constantly

Lyndhurst is where the van starts the day, and that changes what is worth calling us out for. A single sticking cylinder, one mailbox lock, a key snapped off in a storm door: those are short trips here rather than scheduling problems, and we take them. The housing behind them is easy to describe and not easy to key. Roughly four in ten homes are single-family detached and close to a third are two-family, packed onto the upland strip that sits tight against the Meadowlands, with about half the stock built before 1960. Old doors, two tenancies to a building, narrow lots. That combination is most of what we do within a few streets of the shop.

A Lyndhurst two-family almost never has two doors. Count properly and you usually find a front entry, a vestibule door behind it, a side entry down the alley that the upstairs tenant treats as their own front door, a basement door under the stoop, a hatchway into the cellar, and a detached garage at the back of the lot with a lock nobody has turned since the last owner. Six or seven openings on a building the street reads as one house. When somebody rings and asks us to rekey a two-family, the number they have in their head is two, and it is better for everyone that we establish the real number before we arrive rather than after.

The other constant here is the key ring. These buildings change hands and change tenants steadily, and every change tends to add a cylinder instead of replacing a plan. We are regularly handed five or six keys for a building with two tenancies and nobody able to say which one opens the garage. Fixing that is mostly thinking rather than hardware: work out which cylinders can be brought onto a shared keyway, replace only the ones that genuinely cannot get there, and write the result down. We will talk you out of putting high-security hardware on every door in the process. A cellar hatchway and a garage side door do not need what the front entry needs.

Along Ridge Road and Valley Brook Avenue the commercial stock is small independent premises, most of them one door wide, and that hardware takes punishment no house door ever sees. A shop door cycles hundreds of times a day. Closers drift out of adjustment, latches fall out of line as the frame moves with the season, and an exit device that has been shouldered for a decade eventually stops catching. None of it matters until the door will not lock at closing time, and then it matters completely. Being minutes away means a storefront usually gets put right the same day instead of the owner losing a trading day waiting on somebody driving in from another county.

We work Lyndhurst constantly. Arrival windows here are short and small jobs are worth doing, so it is not a wasted call-out for one lock. Call rather than book online if it is urgent — the phone is faster.

Those are real, and they are quoted exactly as written — but they are still five we chose. Read them where they live — unedited, in whatever order Google puts them, including any we would rather you skipped.

Lyndhurst questions

How quickly can you actually get to a Lyndhurst address?

Faster than anywhere else we cover, because this is where we are based. We will still give you a realistic window rather than a flattering one, since Ridge Road at the school run does what it does. The difference is that we do not have to stack your job behind three others to justify the drive, so a single lock is a legitimate call here. If you are a lockout standing on the pavement, say so when you book and we will tell you honestly where that puts you in the day.

We have five keys for a two-family and nobody knows what they open.

Common here, and it is a one-visit fix. We walk the building trying every key in every lock, label what actually works, then decide which cylinders can be pulled onto one shared keyway and which have to be replaced to get there. You end up with a deliberate key plan and a written note of it instead of an accumulated ring. Most two-families need fewer new cylinders than the owner expects, because the value is in the plan rather than in the hardware.

Do you cover the shops and the Meadowlands side as well as the houses?

Yes, and they are genuinely different jobs. A storefront is closers, latch alignment, exit devices and a door that has to keep working right through a trading day. The Meadowlands side is commercial hardware on larger openings, plus master keying where staff should reach some rooms and not others. Both are usually same-visit work rather than a diagnosis followed a week later by a repair, which is the main practical benefit of being based in the township.

How much does it cost to rekey a house in Lyndhurst?

Up to six cylinders — the usual three-door house — is $695 as the Rekey & Secure package, which includes the mobile service charge, keying every door alike, five keys cut and tested on site, and every deadbolt checked. Beyond six cylinders it is $55 each with a working key.

Is there a minimum charge?

$250. That is the mobile service charge and it is the floor on any residential or commercial visit in Lyndhurst. Estimates by text, photo or video are free.

Do you charge extra after hours in Lyndhurst?

After 5 PM the mobile service charge is $350 and it is collected before a locksmith is dispatched. Everything else is priced the same. After-hours dispatch is subject to technician availability.

Can I book online rather than calling?

Yes, for everything except car keys and active lockouts. Answer three questions about your doors, see a real price, pick a time. Leaving the deposit online takes $25 off.

Are you licensed to work in Lyndhurst?

Yes. New Jersey Locksmith Business License Number 34LX00020300, bonded and insured through State Farm, and Google Guaranteed. The licence number appears at the bottom of every page of this site, on our invoices and on our trucks, as New Jersey requires.

How soon can you get to Lyndhurst?

Emergencies are usually within the hour. We run technicians across the coverage area rather than sending everything out from one place, so Lyndhurst is covered around the clock. We give a realistic arrival window on the phone rather than an optimistic one.
