Questions people actually ask
How much does it cost to rekey a house in North Jersey?
Most houses land at $695 for the Rekey & Secure package, which covers up to six cylinders — a typical three-door home — keyed alike to a single key, with five keys cut and tested on site. Beyond six cylinders it is $55 each when you have a working key. That package figure is all-in — the $250 mobile service charge is already inside it. Rekeying priced per cylinder instead sits on top of that charge: a typical three-door house is $580 done that way.
What is the smallest job you will come out for?
$250. That is the mobile service charge and it is the floor on every residential and commercial job — a lockout, a mailbox lock, an in-person estimate. Estimates by text, photo or video are free, all day. If we drive out, we charge.
Do you charge more after hours?
Yes. After 5 PM the mobile service charge is $350 and it is collected before a locksmith is dispatched. Everything else is priced the same. After-hours dispatch is subject to technician availability.
Can I book without calling anyone?
Yes, for everything except car keys. Pick a service, answer three questions about your doors, and choose a time. Car keys still route to a phone call, because the price genuinely depends on the year, make, model and key type and we would rather quote you properly than guess.
Should I rekey or replace the locks in a house I just bought?
Rekey, in almost every case. It is faster, it costs less, and every old key stops working the moment we are done. Replace only when the hardware is worn out, when you want a keypad or smart lock, or when the existing locks are so mismatched that one key cannot be made to run the house. Some heavy, well-made hardware is genuinely better than what would replace it — rekeying that keeps the better lock.
How many copies of my key are already out there?
Nobody can tell you the number, and that is the point. Previous owners, their contractors, cleaners, dog walkers, the neighbour who watered the plants, whoever held the key during the sale. Rekeying is the only way to make the answer zero.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Licensed and insured in New Jersey, Google Guaranteed, and NASTF-registered for vehicle security work. Our locksmith business license number appears at the bottom of every page of this site, on our invoices, and on our trucks, as New Jersey requires.
What areas do you cover?
Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, Union and Morris counties, from our base in Lyndhurst. Daytime service anywhere in that footprint — a job is a job. After-hours dispatch depends on which technician is on call.
